It is with much disappointment that we must announce the cancellation of the XTC Campbell River event. This event has been running in the community of Campbell River since 2001. We were asked to take over the organizing of the event along with local coordinators in 2005 and we very much enjoyed hosting the event and meeting so many great people over the years. However, the support from sponsors (due to economic problems) and the local volunteer community has diminished to the point at which we can no longer host the event. To date we only have one volunteer signed up to assist with this year's event. We will not host an event in which we cannot comfortably keep the safety of our participants at the top of of our priority. This event has been a favourite of ours as it has always had such a great feel with the participants and local community. We will miss being in this venue. We want to thank Linda Nagle and Claire Moglove who are the local coordinators that have banged their heads against the "proverbial" wall trying to keep this event going and a priority in the community. They have both spent endless hours working on aspects of the event and have always believed strongly in off-road triathlon racing.
We will be issuing a full refund to participants who are registered in the event. If you would like to transfer your entry to the XTC Squamish race in September, please let us know as we would be happy to do that. In addition, Triathlon BC has shifted the Junior Race Series spot to XTC Squamish. Our XTC Squamish race was deemed one of the 20 must do races for 2009 by Triathlon Canada and we are very excited about the event!
We will also be looking at new venue opportunites for the future. Stay tuned!
